For a quick overview of Lexis Answers® on the Lexis+® service, you can view the following LexisNexis® Training on the Go video:

Lexis Answers on the Lexis+ service provides answers to legal research questions. Instead of just providing documents with potentially relevant sections highlighted, Lexis Answers extracts and delivers a direct answer to your legal question, along with a finely tuned document-based results list.

Enter your query in the form of a natural language search, such as what are the elements of a breach of contract or what is the statute of limitations for product liability. You do not have to translate your question into keywords or use Boolean syntax.

Lexis Answers only appears on the Cases and Practice Notes and Articles results lists on the Lexis+ service when our AI-driven intelligence identifies documents that directly answer your question.

Take the following steps to invoke Lexis Answers:
  1. Enter the type of answer you want in the natural language (plain language) format, such as a the elements of a claim or defense, the standard of review for, the burden of proof of, the legal doctrine of, or the statute of limitations for a claim in the search box.
Note: You can enter your terms in the form of a question or just as a search. For example:
    • what are the elements of breach of contract?
    • elements of breach of contract
    • can a municipality be held liable for the actions of its officers under respondeat superior?
  2. Add a jurisdiction from the pre-search Jurisdiction filter if you want to restrict your answers and results to a specific jurisdiction.
  3. Click the magnifying glass Search icon.
  4. Review the top 3 cases under Answers. Click Show More Answers to see up to 10 cases.

Use your browser’s Print function to print the Lexis Answers list. Use the Lexis delivery options (print, email, download, etc.) to deliver just the results list.
